Cardinal Returns to Its Regular Schedule

The river boat Cardinal will begin its weekly Saturday public trips at 10:00 AM on March 14. Trips departing from Riverfront Park in downtown Beaumont to explore wilderness areas just minutes from the heart of the city.
Trips were delayed this winter because hurricane Ike closed Riverfront. Starting voyages this season will allow folks to enjoy about two leisurely hours on the water exploring some of Beaumont's hidden outdoor treasures.
It's a good idea to call ahead to make reservations for the Saturday trips although they are not required. The Cardinal is also available for special group tours during the week: Call-409-880-8907.

Big Thicket National PreserveDo you have a group planning a visit to the Big Thicket? Ranger Leslie Dubey says that you should call the Visitors Center for information regarding hiking or paddling trails.
As schedules permit, the Big Thicket may be able to schedule a Ranger to accompany your group. Call:

Third Saturday Programs
Come to River

During the 2009 season Cardinal River Adventures offers a series of special Saturday programs on its 49-passenger river boat.  This season's narrative cruises feature different experts in the culture, history, and natural surroundings of the Neches River.
The first program will be March 21st at 10:00 AM with the boat departing from Riverfront Park in downtown Beaumont.  Birds in Southeast Texas will be David Baker’s topic on this trip.  He will share with passengers on the cruise information about the major birds living in this area.  David is a well-known former National Big Thicket Preserve Ranger and will share insights from his many years of experience in the Thicket.
Normal fares of $15.00 and $5.00 will be charged respectively for adults and children five years of age and under.  The April 18 program will be BT
Ranger Leslie Dubey with the topic of Beavers, Bears, and Bobcats in the Big Thicket.  Call 409-880-8907 for additional information and a copy of the program for the year.
